This CE webinar is an overview for the practitioner who would like to further understand and learn minimally traumatic tooth extraction techniques and alveolar ridge preservation procedures. Participants will learn techniques to preserve the original bone volume during and after the tooth extraction in order to minimize and prevent the necessity for more complex procedures. Furthermore, the participants will learn how improve their techniques and outcomes with the use of Piezoelectric Surgery. These techniques will improve the outcomes of restorative treatments such as complete dentures, removable partial dentures and conventional fixed partial dentures. Most importantly, participants will be able to preserve the necessary bone volume of the edentulous ridge for the proper placement of a dental implant thereby minimizing the need for additional bone repair procedures.
Objectives: • Learn different techniques to extract teeth using a minimally traumatic approach • Learn about piezoelectric surgery to facilitate the removal of teeth and minimize the trauma to the alveolar bone and surrounding soft tissues • Learn the basic concepts of alveolar ridge preservation • Learn basic concepts of flap design and flap management for alveolar ridge preservation • Learn different suturing techniques utilized in alveolar ridge preservation • Review the different commercial materials available for alveolar ridge and bone grafting
