The oral systemic link has gained notoriety in the past few years. We have been studying this link for hundreds of years. This CE webinar explores the history of the oral systemic link and periodontal disease then and now. We will discuss the history of oral bacteria and findings over centuries in its implication in systemic illness. Oral bacteria have been implicated in direct correlation with a host of systemic diseases including heart disease and diabetes. By taking an interdisciplinary healthcare approach and elevating all the members of the dental team as key partners in care we can be key stakeholders in restoring our patients to optimum health. This CE webinar includes a review of current literature concerning the oral systemic link and how to communicate these findings with patients to facilitate total overall health. We can educate our patients, not only, in the realm of restoration or repair but in the reversal of periodontal disease through regenerative therapy and that is a key factor in facilitating total body health.

The course objectives of this CE webinar are
• History of periodontal disease and non-surgical therapies
• Understand the history of the oral systemic link and its relevance to current thinking
• Discuss the correlation between periodontal disease and systemic disease
• Reality-based hygiene what we didn’t learn in school
• Create a more periodontally aware practice
• Gain competency in thinking in an interdisciplinary manner by elevating the entire dental team as key partners in care
• Identify key opportunities to communicate value of total health to patients   ( disclaimer , AGD PACE Statement )
